The fund, which was developed by West Dorset District Council, Dorset County Council Natural Environment Team (DNET) and Habitat First Group (Silverlake), was launched in April 2018.
The fund can be used for projects to benefit habitats and wildlife found in Silverlake and the local area. Example projects could include planting, green travel routes or wildlife boxes.
Eligible areas for funding include Broadmayne, Winfrith Newburgh, Woodsford, Warmwell, Crossways, Knightsford, Owermoigne, Puddletown and Moreton.
Two projects received funding through the first round of applications. These were Butterfly Conservation who received funding to study whether the Dingy Mocha Moth was present in Warmwell Heath and Silverlake and Broadmayne First School who received equipment to study wildlife in the school environment.
Those wishing to apply for funding will need to complete and submit an application form by 5pm on Monday 31st October 2018. The application form and guidance on the process are available HERE.
Applications will then be considered by DNET, WDDC, Habitat First Group and relevant ward members before awards are made later in the year.
